Installing a Symbian Mobile Phone for MMS Usage
This document describes the steps required to install a Symbian mobile phone to be used with the ExtraFax Server. Some hints for troubleshooting are also included in this document.
Installation
ExtraFax server requires a Symbian Mobile phone to send and receive MMS. Currently, only a Symbian S60 mobile phone is supported. In particular, the following phone models
have been tested:
- Nokia 3230 and Nokia 6680.
Please follow these steps to prepare your Symbian mobile phone for integration with the Extrafax MMS feature:
1. Install the Nokia PC Suite on the computer where the ExtraFax server is located. The Nokia PC Suite should be bundled with your mobile phone. Alternatively, you can download the latest version from the Nokia web site.
2. Connect your mobile phone to the ExtraFax server using the USB cable appropriate for the
model of mobile phone that you have.
3. Click Install application on the PC Suite Window.
4. Select mmsclient02.sis from the folder where Extrafax is installed. This would be
the Domino program file directory (server mode installation) or the Notes program directory (workstation mode
installation). Follow the instruction on the mobile phone to finish the installation.
5. Start the MMSClient application from the Symbian mobile phone. Select USB from the popup
menu. The mobile phone is now ready for use with ExtraFax.
