Windows NT/2000 Device Driver

Your GammaLink fax board should be bundled with the latest GammaLink Fax Software. If you have not gotten one, you can download it from Dialogic Corporation's web site:

http://support.dialogic.com/releases/winnt/index.html

Dialogic provides Installation and Configuration Guide for the GammaLink Fax Software which has step-by-step instructions on driver installation.

Has the GammaLink device driver properly started?

There are several ways to start the GammaLink System Service:

1. From the Control Panel Services applet, select the GammaLink System Service and click the 'Start' button.

2. From the GammaFax "Start GammaLink System Service" Utility dialog box, click the green start icon.

How to setup GammaFax to answer Incoming Calls/ Place a call?

1. There is a GammaFax configuration file GFAX.$DC that you need to modify. By default, the GammaFax setup program will put all channels in 'sleeping' mode. This means that the fax channel(s) will not answer any incoming call nor place any outgoing call. Locate line(s) in GFAX.$DC that look like

2. Change '3' to '0'.

3. Close and save the file.

4. Shut down and reboot your computer.

5. The ExtraFax device manager would check if the GFAX.$DC file is setup in a way ExtraFax expected. It would display a warning message if the gfxshutdown line is not setup properly.

6. If you choose to install GDK 3.0 or above (required for certain GammaLink boards e.g. PCI based one), please note that GFAX.$DC is no longer in use. The new GDK comes with its own control panel applet for setting channel properties. Please refer to the associated Gammalink GDK documentation for details.
