About ExtraFax

- E-mail-to-Fax and E-mail-to-SMS/MMS
Whether you work in the office or at home, you can send and receive faxes as e-mails without the need of a separate fax machine. Moreover, you can forward a received fax as an e-mail as well as send out an e-mail as a fax. Now, you can even send and receive SMS (short message) / MMS (multimedia message) just as easily as sending and receiving an e-mail.
- Fax directly from all Windows applications using the ExtraFax Client
ExtraFax provides a "Print-to-Fax" client. All Windows applications can be enriched with faxing capability by using ExtraFax. Using the ExtraFax client, redirect documents from any Windows Application to ExtraFax and transmit them as a fax. Documents of various formats, generated in Windows 2000 / XP / 2003 OS version, can also be attached to outgoing faxes.
- Fax-On-Demand (FOD)
Fax-on-demand is an automatic facility to deliver documents requested by inbound callers. From a touch tone telephone, inbound callers can simply follow a series of voice-prompted menu options to request documents that are to be delivered via fax.
- Transmission Scheduling and Priority
It is often more desirable to delay the transmission of large volume faxes and send them during nonbusiness hours in order to take advantage of lower telephone costs and to minimize the impact to other fax users. It may also be desirable to schedule a fax transmission at a specific time so that a fax reaches the other side of the globe at a particular time allowing for immediate attention. ExtraFax supports such transmission scheduling as well as transmission priority thereby allowing outgoing faxes with higher priority to be transmitted first.
- Least Cost Routing
Leverage your existing WAN and/or ISP Internet connection to route faxes via other ExtraFax servers that you may have located in other global offices. ExtraFax allows you to maximize the use of your existing WAN and/or ISP connection and thus minimize long distance and international dialing charges that are associated with using the (PSTN) public switched telephone network. The cost of routing is therefore significantly lower compared to ordinary fax machines which rely solely only on the (PSTN) public switched telephone network. ExtraFax further reduces costs by supporting automatic inbound routing of faxes which can be based on DID / DTMF / CSID / IVR / fax channel / Bar Codes.
- Load Balancing and Fail-over Capabilities
In an environment that requires fault tolerant and high availability fax services, ExtraFax supports load balancing and fail over when more than one ExtraFax server is installed. This helps to avoid the situation when a particular ExtraFax server may become overloaded processing many fax requests, while the other ExtraFax servers may have spare capacity to handle more fax requests. High availability is achieved by automatic routing of requests from one ExtraFax server to another. It is especially useful when a particular ExtraFax server is down for maintenance.
- Searchable Adobe PDF for Advanced Document Management
ExtraFax can integrate with Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Capture for storing fax images in Searchable Adobe PDF format. Users can easily search fax content using the standard Lotus Notes full-text search feature.
