ExtraTxt 2.0.1 update is available now!



New Product Announcement - June 21, 2010

Extracomm Inc. is proud to announce ExtraTxt 2.0.1. This version is released as a software update and it is available at no charge to all the customers who purchased the ExtraTxt Maintenance plan.

What's New in ExtraTxt 2.0.1?

This version incorporates the following new features and enhancements:

1. SMPP (Enterprise Edition license is required.)
- Support SMPP for sending/receiving SMS-Text message.

2. SMS-Text Message Template Library
- Provide public, personal text message template libraries.
- Ability to categorize templates into different folders.

3. Address Book
- Provide public, personal and shared address books.

4. Distribution List
- Ability to create distribution lists in the address book.

5. Send Greek SMS up to 160 characters
- Now you can send 160 Greek capital characters in 1 message. (Instead of 70)

6. ExtraTxt Remote Port Server
- Allow to configure service startup type from Windows Start Menu.

7. Support Windows 7 (32 bit or 64 bit)
- You can run the ExtraTxt VM and ExtraTxt Remote Port Server on Windows 7.

Important changes:

1. Each user/contact has one mobile number only.
The fields "Mobile Phone 2" and "Mobile Phone 3" are removed.

2. "Extracomm Remote Port Server" is renamed to "ExtraTxt Remote Port Server".


For new installation, please:

1. Download and install ExtraTxt 2.0 VM
- Go to Extracomm download page to download ExtraTxt 2.0 VM.
- Follow the installation instructions mentioned in the ExtraTxt 2.0.1 Installation Guide.

2. Update to ExtraTxt 2.0.1
- Open your web browser to login ExtraTxt as "Administrator".
- Select "System Management"->"Update".
- Click "Check for update" button.
- Select the ExtraTxt 2.0.1 update and click "Update" button.
- Select "Confirm Update" to confirm the update.
- Click "Save" button to start the update.
- Wait until the update process is finished.
- Done.

3. Verify ExtraTxt Version
- You can verify the ExtraTxt version by viewing "System Management"->"System Configuration"->"General Information"->"ExtraTxt Information".


How to update from a previous version of ExtraTxt:

1. Backup your ExtraTxt
- Before updating your ExtraTxt Server, at a minimum, please perform a full backup by running the backup from System Management Backup in ExtraTxt. It is however highly recommended that you backup the full ExtraTxt virtual machine image files in the event of problem and you need to revert the server to its previous state prior to the ExtraTxt server update. (Please shutdown the virtual machine before copying the virtual machine files.)

2. Update to ExtraTxt 2.0.1
- Open your web browser to login ExtraTxt as "Administrator".
- Select "System Management"->"Update".
- Click "Check for update" button.
- Select the ExtraTxt 2.0.1 update and click "Update" button.
- Select "Confirm Update" to confirm the update.
- Click "Save" button to start the update.
- Wait until the update process is finished.
- Done.

3. Verify ExtraTxt Version
- You can verify the ExtraTxt version by viewing "System Management"->"System Configuration"->"General Information"->"ExtraTxt Information".

4. If you are using Remote Port Server, you need to upgrade it to Remote Port Server 1.2.1.
- After updated your ExtraTxt server to 2.0.1, go to the machine that remote port server has been installed before.
- Uninstall the Extracomm Remote Port Server from "Control Panel"->"Add or Remove Programs".
- Open web browser to login ExtraTxt as "Administrator".
- Go to "System Management"->"System Configuration".
- Click "Download" to download Remote Port Server 1.2.1.
- Run the setup program to re-install Remote Port Server 1.2.1.
